If you’re looking for some unusual garden statues, garden ornaments, bird baths, etc., you should definitely check out the collection at Statue.com. I even found this replica of a garden sculpture that I believe I have seen in person in Savannah, Georgia. The site says: “The Savannah Bird Girl was sculpted in 1936 by Sylvia Shaw Judson, for Bonaventure Cemetery.” I’m pretty sure I have seen this sculpture in person, or maybe it was on the cover of that book famous book about Savannah whose name I’m totally forgetting. Anyone know for sure?

Circle Hoe Weeder

circle hoe.jpg

When I worked as a professional gardener, I decided to try out a variety of garden weeders to see which I liked best. After talking to some friends, I was told to try out a circle hoe, which works both as a weeder, and as a garden hoe. Since that time, the circlehoe has been one of my favorite tools for gardening. For weeding, it is ideal because it removes weeds while leaving the soil in place. It is also easy to work around your plants without disrupting them. The cirlcehoe does not drag the soil, so when you use it, you don’t have to worry about moving the soil back to where you’ve been working.

Garden tape may seem like a weird gardening gift, but it is one of those essential pieces of equipment in the garden. The thing is, you can’t use just any tape in the garden, you need something that stretches so that it doesn’t strangle your shrubs and trees as it grows, and that is resistant to extreme weather. Vinyl garden tape will do the trick. Golden Harvest Organics sells garden tape for $1.95 a roll, so stock up!
